A mother named this. Can you tell!?

Her children had been through a move of house and all kinds of other disruptions to their normal routine, and their sleep - and their mother's sleep was suffering!

Have you got anything to help them SLEEP? she begged.

Well, we do have the wonderful Lullaby Tea, but her children were not fans of herbal tea.

And I know that generally children LOVE the Elderberry Syrup.

So what if I added sleep-encouraging herbs to the Elderberry Syrup?

And that is how the Saving Grace Cordial came about.

It makes a beautiful soothing bed time drink.

Or if you are worried they'll need the toilet later, give them just a tablespoon-full.

Some enterprising mothers have made icy-poles and gummy bears from this cordial!

The Saving Grace Cordial made from 100% Australian Certified Organic Elderberries, sweetened with honey, with sleep-promoting herbs of hops, valerian, chastetree and crampbark, with a little food-grade glycerol to help preserve it.

The cordial is suitable for children over the age of 3, as Valerian is not recommended for children under 3. It is not suitable for use during pregnancy. (We have the Lullaby Bliss tea, suitable for the under 2’s and during pregnancy).

Give 10-20 mls of cordial in a little water, at bedtime. (It can be taken “straight” without water if preferred.)

There is no preservative other than a little Glycerol in this product, so please keep the cordial in the fridge and consume within 6 weeks of opening.

Can be mixed with a little gelatine to make jelly or “gummy bears”.

About the herbs:

Elderberry (Sambuccus nigra) – anti-viral, boosts immunity, anti-oxidant, suitable for children, prevents and relieves coughs and colds.

Hops (Humulus lupulus) – mild sedative, helpful for sleep onset and maintenance (getting to sleep and staying asleep), calms restlessness, excitability and anxiety.

Chastetree berries (Vitex agnus-castus) – known as a hormone balancing herb, chastetree also supports sleep maintenance and helps insomnia

Valerian root (Valeriana officinalis) – spasmolytic, mild sedative, calms anxiety and excitability, soothes irritability and emotional stress, helpful for insomnia. There is no safety information available about the use of Valerian in children, although Santich & Bone (2008) recommend that Valerian be avoided in children under 3. (Note: the amount of Valerian in this cordial is much less than the usual medicinal dose).

Crampbark (Viburnum opulus) – mild sedative, spasmolytic, nervine, eases muscle tension. Crampbark also has a hypotensive effect (lowers blood pressure) so hypothetically is best avoided in the case of very low blood pressure.

  1. Thank you! Sleep!

Early 2017 we had to move due to health reasons with my FIL. With the move came upheaval and disrupted sleep for my 3 children. Julie had only just developed Saving Grace and I was desperate to try anything! The first night we used it was our first full night sleep for all kids in 2 weeks. Love this product and will it use again.
