Do you remember when you stepped on a nail or sharp bit of shell or glass as a child, and the sore or cut got infected?
Our home treatment for such wounds was always to soak the foot, or hand, in a bowl of warm salty water. Then pat dry, air it and apply some sort of antiseptic cream.
This is a practice I continued with my own children, and have found it very effective to manage all sort of cuts, scratches, scrapes, puncture wound, splinters, insect bites etc - particularly when I wanted to prevent infection.
This blend of herbs offers the most potent antimicrobial herbs from the Australian outback, the New Zealand bushlands, as well as the traditional 'physic garden'.
In formulating the Marigold Miracle range, I paid particular attention to herbs known for their effective action against Staphylococcus aureus. But, as you'll know from the beneficence of herbs - if a herb is active against one family of microbes, it will often have a side-benefit of being effective against another. For example: antibacterial herbs are usually anti-fungal as well.
The Marigold Miracle Antiseptic Herbs come in a lovely amber jar filled with 75 g of the loose herbs, ready for you to create a herbal soak, or wash, or compress, or poultice.

How to use:
Place a generous handful of the loose herbs into a Pyrex jug.
Pour on hot water from the kettle
Cover & steep for 10-20 minutes
Now pour through a strainer into another container.
You now have a strong herbal liquid to use to treat the wound.
You can do this a few ways:
- Hot compress: soak soft muslin cloth in the herbal kiquid, squeeze slightly, and aplly directly to the affected part (take care that the temperature is hot, but not so hot that it might cause burning.)
- Squeezy bottle - Fill a peri bottle with the warm herbal liquid and use it to drizzle over the infected part. This can also be helpful when removing dressings that may have adhered to the wound.
- Herbal bath - prepare a full body bath, or foot bath, then pour in the bowl of herbal liquid just before the person gets in.With young ones, I like to use a baby bath or large sink, so that they dilution is reduced.
- Poultice - there is a muslin bag included, you may place gthe herbs in this prior to pouring on the hot water, This gives you a muslin bag full or=f wet herbs, which may be applied directly to the wound (be sure that excessive heat is not retained within the herbs - check the temperature first before applying. Remember children's skin is more sensitive to hear than ours). If you strain the herbs through a strainer lined with a muslin cloth, this will also provide you with a compress of herbs tied up in muslin that may be applied.
MY favourite method is simply the herbal bath. The appropriate method to employ will depend on which part of the body needs treatment.
Once the area is aired & dry, apply Marigold Miracle Antiseptic Salve, until it is time for the next dressing change.
